Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Nepali Teacher – Middle School (Lower Secondary Level) is responsible for delivering high-quality Nepali language instruction that develops students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The role focuses on fostering linguistic accuracy, literary appreciation, cultural awareness, and effective communication skills during the crucial middle school years.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging Nepali lessons aligned with the prescribed Nepali curriculum.
  • Teach core language strands including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and literature.
  • Develop students’ ability to read and interpret prose, poetry, and age-appropriate literary texts.
  • Encourage creative and structured writing using correct grammar and vocabulary.
  • Promote clear oral communication, presentation skills, and confident expression in Nepali.
  • Use differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and language abilities.
  • Integrate cultural context, real-life examples, and creative activities into lessons.
  • Maintain a structured, disciplined, and positive classroom environment.

Assessment & Academic Monitoring

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with learning objectives.
  • Monitor and record student progress in language development and literacy skills.
  • Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback to support language improvement.
  • Identify learning gaps and plan appropriate interventions.
  • Prepare academic reports and actively participate in Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs).

Student Support & Well-being

  • Support students in developing confidence and interest in the Nepali language.
  • Encourage appreciation of Nepali literature, culture, and values.
  • Promote learner responsibility, perseverance, and respectful communication.
  • Ensure strict adherence to child safeguarding, discipline, and student well-being policies.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in curriculum planning, moderation, and departmental meetings.
  • Contribute to language-related activities such as literary events, reading programs, language weeks, and cultural celebrations.
  • Support school assemblies, competitions, and extracurricular language activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and language pedagogy training.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, coordinators, and school leadership.
  • Adhere to school policies, professional standards, and the code of conduct.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Graduate (Masters)

Required Experience:More than or equal to 5 years

Other Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nepali, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching Nepali at the Middle School / Lower Secondary level.
  • Experience in an international or English-medium school preferred.
  • Strong command of spoken and written Nepali.
