Job Summary
The Science Teacher – Middle School (Lower Secondary Level) is responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-based, and concept-driven Science instruction aligned with the Cambridge Lower Secondary Science Curriculum. The role focuses on developing students’ scientific knowledge, practical skills, critical thinking, and curiosity across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, while ensuring safety and academic rigor.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver effective Science lessons aligned with the Cambridge Lower Secondary Science framework.
- Teach core concepts across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics appropriate to the Lower Secondary level.
- Design and conduct practical experiments and investigations following laboratory safety standards.
- Promote inquiry-based learning, scientific reasoning, observation, and problem-solving skills.
- Encourage application of scientific concepts to real-life and global contexts.
- Use differentiated teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs.
- Integrate project-based, interdisciplinary, and experiential learning approaches.
- Maintain a structured, disciplined, and safe classroom and laboratory environment.
Assessment & Academic Monitoring
- Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with Cambridge assessment objectives.
- Prepare students progressively for Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint (Science), where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, practical work, and student progress.
- Provide timely, clear, and constructive feedback to support student improvement.
- Prepare academic reports and participate in Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
Student Support & Well-being
- Identify learning gaps and provide remediation or enrichment as required.
- Support students’ confidence, scientific curiosity, and independent learning skills.
- Promote positive behavior, responsibility, and learner attributes.
- Ensure strict adherence to child safeguarding, health, and safety policies.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum planning, moderation, and departmental meetings.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary units, STEM projects, science fairs, exhibitions, and competitions.
- Support and organize Science-related clubs, activities, and academic events.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to Cambridge Science pedagogy.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, coordinators, and school leadership.
- Adhere to school policies, professional standards, and the professional code of conduct.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Science (Biology / Chemistry / Physics / General Science) or Education (Master’s preferred).
• Cambridge-trained and minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching Science within the Cambridge or IB Middle School / Lower Secondary framework.
• Experience in an international or English-medium school preferred.
