Job Summary
The Math Teacher – (Secondary Level) is responsible for delivering high-quality, concept-driven Mathematics instruction aligned with the Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics Curriculum. The role focuses on developing students’ numerical fluency, logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and mathematical communication during the critical middle years.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging Mathematics lessons aligned with the Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics framework.
- Teach key mathematical strands including number, algebra, geometry, measurement, ratio, data handling, and problem-solving.
- Apply the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) approach to support conceptual understanding.
- Promote logical reasoning, critical thinking, and structured problem-solving strategies.
- Encourage students to explain reasoning using appropriate mathematical language.
- Use differentiated instruction to address diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Integrate real-life applications, investigations, and technology into lessons.
- Maintain a structured, disciplined, and positive classroom environment.
Assessment & Academic Monitoring
- Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with Cambridge assessment objectives.
- Prepare students progressively for Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint (Mathematics), where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and learning evidence.
- Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback to support student improvement.
- Prepare academic reports and participate actively in Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
Student Support & Well-being
- Identify learning gaps and provide remediation or enrichment support.
- Support students in developing confidence and a positive mindset towards Mathematics.
- Promote learner responsibility, perseverance, and problem-solving resilience.
- Ensure strict adherence to child safeguarding, discipline, and well-being policies.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum planning, moderation, and departmental meetings.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary projects, STEM initiatives, math weeks, and academic events.
- Support Mathematics-related competitions, clubs, and enrichment activities.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to Cambridge Mathematics pedagogy.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, coordinators, and school leadership.
- Adhere to school policies, professional standards, and the professional code of conduct.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Cambridge-trained and minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching Mathematics within the Cambridge or IB Middle School / Lower Secondary framework.
• Experience in an international or English-medium school preferred.
